Word on the street

Dr.Porcher gave an AMAZING presentation! Bring her back as a Keynote!! She honestly brought the mirror and sat it right in front of us!! She challenged not only the anti-blackness in our community at large but the ways in which it shows up right here on ISU’s campus. She gave several examples of Anti-Blackness and historical context that was masterfully woven together with how anti-blackness shows up in our current society as well, to walking us through imagining what freedom looks like for Black students, faculty, and staff in the academy!

Dr. Shamaine Bertrand was one of the most captivating presenters that I have experienced in quite some time. Her personality alone made this session smooth and the time went so fast because she had us engaged.

Kisha Porcher brought so much joy to my day. These conversations are heavy, they are not easy, they are not always enjoyable, and they bring out a lot of hate from a lot of people that don’t want to listen or did not come to listen. Her words truly meant a lot to me, and I loved listening and taking it all in. She made me think about so much today, and truly exuded so much happiness, confidence, and joy. As a Black woman I love to see that. She is inspirational and I wish every staff and faculty member of ISU had the opportunity to witness what she said today.
