Anti-Literacy Laws

Overview of Lesson:

The students are expected to define literacy from an English Education and/or English Language Arts perspective. However, before they can define literacy, it is imperative for them to understand the history of literacy in the U.S., especially from the perspective of Black folx. The students are expected to research anti-literacy laws in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
